Colonisation of space and celestial bodies
Do you fear, or on the contrary look forward, to your national flag being continuously exposed on the moon or another celestial body? And what about another country’s flag? The colonisation of space and celestial bodies is not science fiction anymore ever since the US Administration announced its New Vision for Space. That vision, however, also raises a number of long-term legal and policy issues, intricately involved with the possibility of private partners as well as many other states of the world. Would such developments require a fundamental overhaul of terrestrial legal regimes? Is an international meta-nation the answer to all the novel requirements created by humans born, living and dying in space colonies? How can crime in space be controlled?
As of yet, the answers to such questions are still mainly theoretical – but Black Holes has already the capacity to help you answer them: further to the expertise on the International Space Station (ISS), a select number of studies has dealt with relevant issues such as jurisdiction and sovereignty in outer space.
