Military and dual-use issues of outer space and space activities

Whether you like ‘Star Wars’ or not, space activities are unthinkable without a major military, and consequently also a major dual-use component. It is a special challenge for everyone involved in space activities to determine the legal, institutional and policy parameters resulting from this phenomenon. What legal and policy instruments are around to keep military and dual-use concerns from interfering with civil and commercial ones – and vice versa? Such varied subjects as US International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR’s), the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) project of the EU and ESA, and shutter control can make or break a commercial or civil space activity – as well as protect or endanger national or international security concerns. You should make sure which is the case in your particular situation!

Black Holes’ services would help you in finding out what the critical issues are and how to deal with them as much as possible, as its experience in this field is testified by a broad number of projects and studies on a wide variety of subjects.
